Being a Proxy and choosing a Proxy

Hello,

minguo.info now has a brand new, albeit still basic proxy capability. This feature will be improved over time.

It is recommended that everyone chooses a proxy.

"I would like to be a proxy"

Check your own user account, and follow the link to agree to become a proxy.

Then, post a reply to this forum thread, to announce that you are a proxy. Introduce yourself a little bit so that people looking for a proxy can chose.

"I want to select a proxy"

Have a look at the thread below, to see who has volunteered to become proxies. Click on their username to see their account page. From there, you have a link to select them as your proxy.

Both the names of those you have selected as proxy and the names of those who have selected you will be displayed on your account's "my proxies" page. (click "My account > edit > My proxies").

This thread is only to list the members acting as a proxy. Post a comment only to announce that you are a proxy and to introduce yourself. If you have questions about how it works, if you have problems, or if you have suggestions on how to improve the current proxy implementation, please start a new thread in this forum. Thanks.

Obviously...

Obviously, I am the first proxy.
You can click on my user name, and follow the link to chose me as your proxy.

My main interest is to spread knowledge about better voting systems. I am also concerned about environmental issues, human right issues, etc.

Within this Realm (minguo.info/usa), my role is only to empower YOU to express yourself in a different, better way.

In the World's Smallest Political Quiz, I score 100 on PERSONAL issues and 50 on ECONOMIC issues (see graph). Note: the quizz is designed by a Libertarian web site and their point of view is obviously that scoring 100% on both issues is the best. Despite its bias, I still find the quizz interesting: it can give a quick idea of the political leanings of a proxy.

I will act as a proxy

I am here to get a sense of the DP system in action.

As a proxy, I will take seriously communication within
my proxy network.

To accept me as a proxy:
* click on my username
* click on "my proxy settings"
* check the box that accepts me as a proxy and 'Add Proxy'

Jan Kok - Libertarian

People looking for a proxy will want to know the political orientation of the proxy - what positions would the proxy advocate and vote for?

  • I'm a Libertarian, which means I prefer that government at all levels be as small, inexpensive, and unintrusive in our lives as possible.
  • I want to bring the troops home from Iraq as soon as possible. We have troops in more than 100 countries around the world. I want to bring them all home, and avoid getting involved in future wars.

  • I've been promoting better voting methods since 2000. I'm cofounder of RangeVoting.org. Presently I promote Range Voting, Approval Voting and proportional representation methods such as Reweighted Range Voting (RRV) and Single Transferrable Vote (STV).
  • I also promote an organizational technology called Free Associations with Delegable Proxy (FA/DP). It might be the key to saving the world. See my manifesto on the topic at Metaparty.BeyondPolitics.org.

In real life, I'm an electrical and software engineer in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA.

Clay Shentrup - Anarcho-Libertarian

I generally regard myself as an anarcho-libertarian, which means that I am generally against the use of force except in cases of self defense. I am generally against taxes, although I think there is some merit to the Georgist idea of taxing the use of natural resources (but not the "fruit of one's labor").

Overall I am against restrictions to free speech, free exercise of religion, any and all sexual acts between consenting adults, gun ownership, and drug use - so long as they do not directly endanger the freedoms of others. For example, I do not support laws against recreational drug use a person's home, but I do consider it criminal to engage in an activity like driving while under the effects.

Unlike some libertarians, I am strongly opposed to immigration restrictions. I believe that if I pay to rent or buy a place to live in e.g. Russia, I have every right to live there. Who is a "government" to tell me that I cannot live in a house that I personally own?

I am vegan (consume no meat/egg/dairy), and I generally consider the consumption of meat to be a particularly abhorrent and barbaric act.

I am an atheist, and I generally consider what is often called "religion" to be mere superstition.

Music is a central part of my life, and some of my favorite bands are Pearl Jam, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Soundgarden.

I also enjoy the study of language. I have learned Esperanto, and I'm now starting to learn िहन्ढी (Hindi).

I live in San Francisco, and some of my favorite companies are Starbucks, Google, H&M, and Banana Republic.

Overall, I really love America's libertarian heritage, and our overall love of liberty. I believe in the uniqueness and potential of every human being to achieve great things.

MY PROXY IS JAN KOK.
