Microsoft bid fails despite achieving plurality of votes

Micro$oft has been trying to push OOXML (Office Open XML) format to be adopted as an ISO standard. Fortunately, they failed. OOXML is competing with the more open format ODF (Open Document Format) proposed by OpenOffice.org (which you can download for free here: http://www.openoffice.org/ ) and by other Open Source advocates.

What is interesting is the requirements for the proposal to be approved.
